Strenuous Walks

More strenuous walks requiring a little climbing

THESE SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED WITHOUT A MAP, COMPASS AND WALKING BOOTS

The Quiraing (about 4 miles)

From the A855 in Uig, take the Staffin Road. Stop at the obvious car park half way across.

The path follows the bottom of the cliffs past the rock formations known as the Prison & the Needle. Eventually it loops around and the return route is along much higher ground with beautiful views.

The Storr (about 4 miles)

From the A855 in Uig, take the road across to Staffin. Turn south towards Portree and start the walk at the car park on the right hand side. This is a short steep climb on a good path.

And if your very fit....

The Trotternish Ridge (22 miles)

Start at Duntulm on the A855 and finish at Ben Dearg.
